About Learn Skin Canada
Skin disorders are among the most frequently encountered conditions in primary care. Family physicians are often the first line of defence in diagnosing and treating skin disorders since most skin issues present initially in primary care settings. Despite the high demand for dermatological care, access to specialized care remains limited across Canada.
As family physicians with a special interest in skin disorders and medical education, Drs. Saadia Jan and Zhi Lynn Fong identified gaps in dermatological training and education in primary care. These gaps lead to diagnostic uncertainty, treatment delays, and worsened patient satisfaction and outcomes. At the same time, they are met with a significant demand for accessible and comprehensive dermatology education from their family medicine colleagues and postgraduate trainees.
Learn Skin Canada was founded by Drs. Saadia Jan and Zhi Lynn Fong to expand dermatological education to a wider audience in primary care. Our mission is to empower healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve skin disorder recognition and management, thereby enhancing the standard of dermatologic care in their local communities.
